Disciples of Jesus (Luke 9:1-62)

As Jesus sends out His disciples to do what they had seen Him do, He teaches them what it means to be sent with His power, by His authority. We then see teaching on the hindrances to being a disciple: a lack of faith, a lack of compassion, a lack of humity and a lack of commitment.

Far more than simply happiness, this joy comes from the promise that all things work together for our good, that only Jesus can promise. We can take joy in the fact that even if things today are not as they should be, there is a future glory that those who put their hope and trust in Christ can have.
